The F-35B is a STOVL aircraft, which means it has to land vertically. That’s why it doesn’t need a tail hook.
About STVOL flight modes of the F-35: There are 3 of them,and they are activated with the yellow lever on the left hand side panel.
The 3 modes are: VERTI (for vertical, nozzle downwards), T/O (for take-off, with nozzle at 45° downwards) and FLIGHT(standard aircraft mode)
One last thing: there is a security which prevents VERTI and T/O modes from being activated above 150kt. (because of vertical fan door and high relative wind)

Labeling the names of the air bases would be nice! Or at least showing which one your supposed to land at.
